Release to PROD Date: 9/19/2024

Criminal Cases Inaccessible from Public Access User Role - All JIS MiFILE Courts

In preparation for criminal case types, we are restricting the public access user role so that criminal documents cannot be accessed from a public kiosk. This is being done as an initial privacy/security safeguard.

Remove Keyword Visibility from Public Access User Role - All JIS MiFILE Courts
The Public Access User Role in OnBase is being updated so that this log-in does not have access to view document-level keyword values. Access to public documents remains the same.

Fix: Remove Case Sensitivity of ".pdf" extensions - All JIS MiFILE Courts
Some users experienced importing errors when a document's ".pdf" extension a document had an uppercase character. Some users had scanners that applied uppercase extensions by default, which then required those users to manually adjust every extension before importing. A fix has been made so that users will no longer need to make those manual adjustments.

Prevent Reindexing to Pending Document - All JIS MiFILE Courts
OnBase supports the ability to reindex documents to a different document catalog selection. To ensure documents remain easily findable, the ability to reindex documents to a "pending document" is being removed.

Rejection Email Update for Court Imported Documents - All JIS MiFILE Courts
When a court user imports a document into Workflow that eventually is rejected, an email is sent to user with a broken link to the rejected document. This update ensures the link functions as expected.

Document Catalog Update - Return of Service on Complaint, Posted - DCS JIS MiFILE Courts
The district document catalog is being updated so the existing option of "Return of Service on Complaint - Posted" is now available for both summary proceedings (LT/SP) and small claims (SC) cases.

Document Catalog Update -  7 Day Notice on Proposed Judgment Now Available for Summary Proceeding Cases - DCS JIS MiFILE Courts
The standard District Document Catalog is being update so that the "7 Day Notice on Proposed Judgment" is now available for summary proceeding (LT/SP) cases. Previously it was restricted to general civil cases.

Decedent Estate Bundle Validation - TrueFiling Update
Bundle validations allow us to check to make sure required documents get filed in the right scenario. For this feature, if a filer submits a "Petition for Probate/Appointment of Representative" or an "Application for Informal Probate/Appointment of PR" filing type, they will be required to also submit a "Testimony/Supplemental Testimony" filing type. If they don't and try to submit their bundle, they will get the following error message: "When submitting a petition or application for this case type, you must also submit a "Testimony/Supplemental Testimony" filing type." This validation is supported by MCR 5.302(B).

If you have other ideas for bundle validations, that are supported by court rule or statute, please submit an idea for us to review!

Remove "Appearance" Filing Type from Small Claims Cases - TrueFiling Update

That shouldn't be there! We are removing the "Appearance" TrueFiling filing type from small claims cases in district court since an attorney should not be representing a party on a small claims case (unless/until it is removed to become a general civil case).

Adjustment to Case Category-Case Type Association - TrueFiling Update

In TrueFiling, personal protection case types are being properly reorganized into the "Personal Protection, Health and Safey of Persons" category.

Web Access to MiFILE DMS Coming Soon! - All JIS MiFILE Courts

Access the MiFILE DMS from the web! We are moving into production a first iteration of "App Builder" that will allow MiFILE DMS courts to access their file cabinet from any web browser--without having to use the Unity Client icon on their desktops. This initial version is very basic and only allows for review of the official electronic case file. You will not be able to move documents through workflow, or review pending (unindexed) documents.

Please be aware that we are moving this feature to production for additional testing. When the feature is ready for court users, we will share the link in a future release note.

Please note, that most of the “bugs” and “enhancements” listed in this document do not require additional testing. This is intended for informational purposes only.  All MiFILE Courts are considered Statewide Solution Courts except for the following:

Hosted Courts: Pilots   are those courts using the Standard OnBase review queue but have their own version of TrueFiling (different filing types). Current courts are Oakland Circuit and Wayne Circuit

On-Premise: Pilots   are those courts using both their own OnBase and their own version of TrueFiling. Current courts are Macomb Circuit, Ottawa Circuit and Grand Traverse/Leelanau/Antrim Circuit

Integrated Courts   are those courts with full or partial CMS integration. Current courts are Wayne (full), Washtenaw (full), and Ottawa Probate   (partial)
