MJI Seminar/Webinar

Sentencing a Juvenile under Miller, its Progeny and MCL 769.25-25a

September 20, 2018

9:30 - 11:45 a.m.

Hall of Justice, 925 West Ottawa, Lansing, Michigan

The Michigan Judicial Institute (MJI) is pleased to announce a half-day seminar for judges who will conduct felony sentencing proceedings involving juveniles facing life in prison without the possibility of parole. You received this seminar announcement because SCAO records indicate that you handled circuit court felony cases in 2016-2017 and may still have a felony docket assignment.

The seminar will review the law and procedure, following People v Skinner (Skinner II), in cases where the prosecution is requesting a life-without-parole sentence. Judges may attend the seminar in person at the Hall of Justice, or online through an internet connection to the judge’s computer.
