Technical FAQs

These questions are answered for the Court IT staff who want to know more about the technical side of MiCOURT.

Q. Once we move to MiCOURT, when can we retire our AS/400?

A. Your AS/400 may be retired once all active applications, JIS or other vendor systems, are no longer active. The court can retain inquiry capability on the legacy system for a period after the migration to MiCOURT.

Q. What are the hardware requirements for MiCOURT?

A. JIS will centrally host MiCOURT. Your court will no longer need the local server (AS400). Courts will access the MiCOURT application using a Citrix client application provided by JIS. For more information, download the MiCOURT Court Technology Requirements document.

Q. Will we need new servers?

A. No. JIS will manage hosting through the Software as a Service (SaaS) model, allowing JIS to implement system upgrades and improve software performance quickly and efficiently. Each court will access the application and their data through a secure connection to JIS servers.

Q. Who will set up new users after our implementation?

A. MiCOURT comes with a User Provisioning web application. Each court should plan on two power users who will have the rights to set up new user accounts. JIS will establish the user accounts for the initial implementation.
